All oversize loads entering the City of Bluffdale must conform to the requirements set by the Utah Department of Transportation.

In general, any vehicle over 12 feet in width, 14 feet in height, and within the Class 3 weight class should obtain an oversize load permit from the Bluffdale Public Works Department. Additionally, oversized loads with a length exceeding 55 feet must travel on designated routes during daylight hours only.

Oversized loads transporting hazardous materials are required to have a police escort and follow specific routing instructions provided by the City of Bluffdale.

The Utah Department of Public Safety requires a police escort for oversized loads transporting hazardous materials. A minimum of two escort vehicles are required, one in front and one behind the oversize load.

For oversized loads with a length exceeding 80 feet, an additional escort vehicle is required to be placed at the rear of the convoy.

Applications must be completed and submitted a minimum of 10 business days prior to the planned route date. A $50 application fee is required, which includes a $25 processing fee and a $25 permit issuance fee.

Oversized loads are not permitted on Main Street or any street within the historic downtown area.

From November 15th to February 28th, oversized loads are restricted from traveling on streets with residential properties between 10pm and 6am due to noise ordinances.

The standard permit fee for Bluffdale is $150, plus an additional $50 per mile traveled on designated routes. A $25 processing fee applies to all applications.

A route complexity surcharge of $100 will be applied for oversized loads traveling through downtown areas or using multiple city streets.
