Heavy haulers are in fact designated by the number of axles that weight can be distributed on. Flatbed Trailer
These standard flats are versatile and allow you to move loads on several types of surfaces: open, flat tip, sides, and rear. 48,000 lbs. is the maximum weight for these trailers and lengths range from 48 to 53 feet. There are also spread axle trailers that are designed the same but have axles that are spread wider apart.
Lowboy Trailer
This trailer is designed to have drops in the deck height one after the gooseneck and another just before the axle. On these trailers the deck is much lower to ground level allowing the ability to carry taller cargo up to 12 feet. 2 axle lowboys can carry up to 40,000 pounds moving bulldozers and industrial equipment and any other types of cargo that require this type of heavy equipment shipping lowboy trailer.
Step-Deck Trailer
A bottom and a top deck are featured in these trailers. They have built in ramps to easily load a multitude of versatile types of cargo such as excavators, tractors, building materials, agricultural materials, cranes, and any other types of loads that require this design of a heavy shipping trailer. They typically can carry up to 48,000 lbs.
Stretch Single Drop and Double Drop Deck Trailers
Long loads are the main type of cargo for these trailers stretching out as long as 65 feet and handling weights up to 48,000 lbs.
Removable Gooseneck Trailers (RGNs)
Tall and long freight are usually moved on an RGN heavy equipment shipping trailer. This trailer has a detachable front end so the bottom can drop to allow ramp access for easy loading and unloading.
Dual-Lane Trailers
