Folly Beach has time-of-day restrictions for oversize loads: they are not permitted between 7-9 am and 4-6 pm, Monday through Friday, to avoid peak traffic hours.

During the peak tourist season (May 1 - September 30), additional restrictions may apply, including prohibitions on heavy haul traffic during weekends and holidays.

Certain routes are restricted due to low bridges or narrow streets. For example, the Morris Island Road area is restricted due to its narrow width and historical significance.

The base permit fee for oversize loads in Folly Beach is $200. Additional fees apply based on the complexity of the route and the need for escorts or traffic control measures.

For super heavy loads (over 150,000 lbs), there is an additional fee of $500, plus $100 for each additional axle beyond the standard configuration.
