All oversize loads entering the City of Goodwater must conform to the requirements set by the Alabama Department of Transportation.

In general, any vehicle over 12 feet in width, 14 feet in height, and within the Class III weight class should obtain an oversize load permit from the Goodwater Public Works Department.

Due to recent infrastructure upgrades on Main Street, oversized loads must follow a designated route to avoid damaging new pavement and utility lines.

In Goodwater, escort vehicles are required for loads exceeding 45 feet in length or 12 feet in width. Local police departments will provide escort services upon request.

There is a $50 fee for police escorts, payable at the Goodwater Police Department during regular business hours.

The standard permit fee for Goodwater is $200, plus an additional $100 for each hour of route complexity. Load size and weight may also affect permit fees.
