All oversize loads entering the City of Millstadt must conform to the requirements set by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

In general, any vehicle over 9.5 feet in width, 13.5 feet in height, and within the Class 3 weight classification should obtain an oversize load permit from the Millstadt Public Works Department.

Additionally, all loads exceeding 10,000 pounds must be accompanied by a police escort, and vehicles with a length of over 55 feet are required to use designated truck routes.

Escorts are required for all loads exceeding 10,000 pounds and those that exceed the maximum allowed dimensions. Police escorts can be scheduled through the Millstadt Police Department by calling (618) 234-2121.

For oversized loads, a minimum of two escort vehicles with flashing lights are required to ensure public safety.
