All oversize loads entering the City of Early must conform to the requirements set by the Texas Department of Transportation.
In general, any vehicle over 12 feet in width, 15 feet in height, and within the Class 3 weight class should obtain an oversize load permit from the Early Public Works Department.
Additionally, all oversized loads are required to have a minimum of two amber lights on each side of the trailer, and a maximum speed limit of 45 mph on city streets.
Any oversized load exceeding 14 feet in width, 16 feet in height, or weighing over 30 tons requires a police escort in Early. Escorts can be arranged by calling the McLennan County Sheriff's Department at (254) 765-5800.
A minimum of two escort vehicles are required for loads exceeding 12 feet in width and 14 feet in height, unless otherwise approved by the Public Works Department.
