In general, any vehicle over 12 feet in width, 15 feet in height, and within the 80,000-pound weight class should obtain an oversize load permit from the Meridian Public Works Department.
Additionally, all heavy haul transportation companies must adhere to the City's noise ordinance, which prohibits excessive noise between 10 PM and 7 AM.
According to Mississippi State Code, escort vehicles are required for any load exceeding 14 feet in width or 15 feet in height. For loads over 10 feet tall, an additional escort vehicle is necessary.
Local police escorts can be arranged through the Meridian Police Department at (601) 485-1928. A $50 fee applies per escort vehicle.
