All oversize loads entering the City of Niagara Falls must conform to the requirements set by the New York State Department of Transportation and the City's Public Works Department.
In general, any vehicle over 10 feet in width, 14 feet in height, and within the Class A weight class (over 26,000 pounds) should obtain an oversize load permit from the Niagara Falls Public Works Department.
Additional specific requirement: Any load exceeding 12 feet in width must be escorted by a certified flag person on both sides of the vehicle.
Detailed description: Escort vehicles are required for loads exceeding 12 feet in width, or those that require a police escort due to traffic congestion.
Police escorts are available Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm and must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. The fee for a police escort is $200.

Base permit fee: $100, plus any additional fees based on route complexity. Route complexity fee ranges from $50 to $200.
