Bulldozer Transportation Services

Nationwide equipment shipping with experienced planning, appropriate trailers, and careful loading coordination.

What We Move

Moving a bulldozer requires more than booking a truck. Dozers are heavy machines with broad tracks or tires, substantial blades and, in many cases, rear rippers. Their transport dimensions can differ considerably from their operating dimensions. Heavy Haul Transporting helps contractors, equipment dealers, rental companies and project managers coordinate bulldozer transportation between jobsites, auction yards, equipment dealerships and storage facilities.

Heavy Haul Transporting is operated by Flatbed Hauling Quotes Inc. As an asset-based carrier and licensed freight broker, we combine our fleet with a network of participating carriers. Our heavy haulers review each move individually so the transportation plan reflects the machine, the route and the conditions at both ends.

Whether you’re moving a smaller finish-grading dozer or a large crawler machine used for major earthwork, the first step is to understand the actual equipment configuration. We review the make, model, operating weight, blade and ripper arrangement, loading conditions, pickup and delivery locations and requested timing. That information helps identify an appropriate trailer and determine whether special routing or permits may be needed.

01

Crawler Dozer and Wheel Dozer Shipping

Crawler bulldozers use tracks for traction and stability on challenging terrain. Wheel dozers use tires and may have different loading and securement considerations. We can review transportation requirements for both machine types, including equipment from familiar manufacturers such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, CASE and Liebherr.

Machine size matters, but so do attachments. A dozer with a straight blade may have a different overall width from one fitted with an angle or universal blade. A rear ripper can affect length and weight distribution. Before quoting, we ask whether any components will remain attached or be removed for transport. We do not assume that a machine’s published operating specifications match its shipping configuration.

02

Choosing a Trailer for Bulldozer Hauling

Trailer choice depends on the bulldozer’s actual weight, height, width, length and center of gravity. Depending on the shipment, an appropriately rated lowboy, removable gooseneck (RGN), or other specialized equipment trailer may be considered. Lower deck heights can help manage overall loaded height, while suitable ramps and ground clearance can simplify loading.

The carrier must have the right equipment and capacity for the specific machine. A trailer that works for one dozer may not be appropriate for another, even if the machines look similar. We consider deck length, concentrated axle loads, loading angle, route conditions and available pickup space before a transportation plan is finalized.

03

Oversize and Overweight Bulldozer Loads

Large bulldozers can exceed legal road limits, particularly when blades remain installed. Whether a load needs permits depends on the complete truck-and-trailer combination and the rules along the route. In some cases, removing or repositioning a blade can change the permit and trailer requirements. Those decisions must be based on the actual machine and qualified handling arrangements, not assumptions.

When required, oversize or overweight planning may include state permits, designated routes, travel-hour restrictions, escort vehicles and coordination across multiple jurisdictions. Requirements vary by location and shipment. We review the details before confirming a transport schedule.

04

Preparing a Bulldozer for Pickup

Good preparation helps avoid loading delays. Confirm that the dozer is accessible, that the ground is stable enough for the transport equipment, and that there is room to maneuver safely. Share any known mechanical problems before pickup. A machine that will not start, steer or move under its own power needs a different loading plan from an operable dozer.

Customers should identify loose tools, detachable accessories and any components that need special handling. If the blade or ripper will be removed, the shipment plan should specify how each component will be lifted, secured and delivered. We also recommend documenting the equipment’s condition before it leaves the pickup site.

05

Safe Loading and Cargo Securement

Loading a bulldozer is a controlled operation that should be performed by qualified personnel using equipment suited to the machine and site. The trailer must be positioned properly, and the loading method must account for ground conditions, machine traction, ramp angle and available clearance.

Once loaded, the carrier must secure the dozer using appropriate rated tiedowns, approved securement points and methods consistent with applicable cargo-securement regulations. Blades, rippers and separate components must also be addressed. The carrier is responsible for inspecting the load and maintaining securement during the trip.

06

What Does Bulldozer Transportation Cost?

Bulldozer shipping prices depend on distance, equipment dimensions and weight, trailer type, permits, escorts, loading requirements, access conditions and scheduling. A nearby move may still be complex if the machine is unusually wide or requires special loading. A longer interstate haul may involve multiple permitting jurisdictions and route restrictions.

To request a useful quote, provide the make and model, shipping dimensions, operating weight, blade and ripper details, pickup and delivery ZIP codes, and desired shipping date. Tell us whether the machine is running and whether loading assistance is available at either location. Accurate information early in the process helps reduce avoidable changes later.

Nationwide Bulldozer Transportation Coordination

Heavy Haul Transporting supports equipment moves for construction contractors, civil engineering projects, grading companies, equipment dealers and fleet managers. Our transportation resources include our fleet and a network of participating carriers. The equipment and route are evaluated for each move; truck availability, price and timing are confirmed individually.

We understand that construction schedules depend on equipment arriving when crews are ready to work. Our team focuses on clear pickup details, realistic transportation planning and communication from quote through delivery. If a jobsite has restricted access, unusual hours or special delivery requirements, those details should be discussed before dispatch.

Bulldozer Transportation Questions

Does the blade need to come off?

Sometimes. The answer depends on the blade width, transport configuration, route and available handling equipment. Send photographs and measured dimensions with your quote request. If removal is proposed, confirm who will remove and reinstall the component and how it will travel.

Can you arrange transportation for a non-running dozer?

Tell us exactly what the machine can and cannot do. A dozer that cannot start, steer or travel requires a loading plan agreed before dispatch. Winching, lifting or other assistance may affect the trailer choice, site arrangements and price.

What should I photograph for a quote?

Include a clear side view, the blade, the rear attachment, the identification plate and the loading area. Photographs help explain the shipment, but measured shipping dimensions and a reliable weight remain essential. Mention wide track shoes, guards and any modifications that change the transport footprint.
