Oversize Loads Transportation Services

Nationwide transportation planning for oversize loads.

What We Move

Oversize load transportation begins with the dimensions of the complete loaded truck and trailer. A load may require special arrangements because of its width, height, length or projections, even when its weight is manageable. Heavy Haul Transporting helps coordinate transportation for equipment and freight whose shipping configuration needs additional route and permit review.

Heavy Haul Transporting is operated by Flatbed Hauling Quotes Inc. As an asset-based carrier and licensed freight broker, we combine our fleet with a network of participating carriers. We work with equipment owners, manufacturers, contractors and project managers to review transportation requirements before dispatch. Our heavy haulers focus on clear shipment information, suitable equipment and communication between the people releasing and receiving the cargo.

01

Oversize Loads We Can Help You Move

Shipment requirements vary across wide equipment, tall cargo, long assemblies, industrial vessels, marine components and specialized freight. Send an itemized description of what needs to move, including accessories and separate packages. Photographs help explain the load, but measured dimensions, reliable weights and handling instructions remain important. If the equipment has been modified, identify the changes instead of relying only on a standard model description.

02

Oversize and Overweight Are Different Questions

A shipment can be oversize, overweight, both or neither, depending on its loaded configuration and the applicable limits along the route. Do not assume that a wide machine is automatically overweight or that a heavy component is necessarily too wide. Provide reliable cargo dimensions and weight so the carrier can assess both questions for the selected truck and trailer combination.

03

Measure the Complete Shipping Envelope

Include all attached equipment, transport supports and packaging in the cargo measurements. Tell us about projections that may not appear in a simple specification sheet. If removal or repositioning is proposed to reduce the shipping envelope, confirm who will do that work and provide the resulting dimensions. The route plan should be based on the configuration that will actually leave the loading site.

04

Route Review, Permits and Travel Conditions

Oversize planning can involve route restrictions, clearances, travel windows and escort arrangements where required. Requirements depend on the jurisdictions and the actual loaded vehicle. A permit is not a substitute for accurate shipment information or a suitable trailer. Provide known restrictions at both sites early, and allow the necessary review before treating a requested pickup or delivery time as confirmed.

05

The Last Miles Matter

A suitable highway route does not guarantee that the truck can enter the pickup or delivery property. Discuss gates, narrow approaches, turns, overhead obstacles and the final unloading area. Provide an informed site contact and current photographs where helpful. If a crane or other lifting equipment must meet the load, its appointment should be coordinated with the transportation plan and any applicable travel restrictions.

06

Trailer Selection for Oversize Loads

The appropriate trailer follows the cargo’s weight, dimensions, support requirements and loading method. Depending on the shipment, the carrier may consider a flatbed, step deck, lowboy, removable gooseneck or another specialized configuration. These are options to evaluate, not a promise that every trailer type suits every item. Share the manufacturer’s shipping instructions and any restrictions on where the cargo may be supported.

Tell us how loading and unloading will take place, who provides the handling equipment and whether the cargo can move under its own power. Trailer availability, deck space and loading access must be considered together. Our heavy haulers review those details with the shipment information so the transportation discussion is based on a workable configuration rather than the lowest deck height or shortest route alone.

A Documented Shipment From Our Project Records

The company’s boat roof record identifies a marine component shipped from Kansas to New Hampshire and expressly describes the load as oversized and permitted. Photographs show the crated component on a trailer. The record does not provide its dimensions or permit documents, so we present it as the company’s described oversize project rather than using it to infer permit thresholds or requirements for another load.

08

What Affects Oversize Loads Transportation Cost?

A useful transportation quote reflects the work required for the complete shipment. Distance matters, but trailer type, loaded size and weight, permits, escort requirements, site access and handling arrangements can also affect the price. Several related loads should be described individually. Let us know about appointment windows, limited receiving hours, storage needs or other conditions that could change the way the move is carried out.

Provide the origin and destination city and ZIP code, the ready date, preferred delivery window, equipment description, shipping dimensions and weight. Include photographs and any available drawings or packing list. Tell us which services are already arranged and which still need discussion. Changes to the cargo or loading conditions should be communicated before dispatch so the quote and transportation plan can be reviewed.

Details to Confirm Before Dispatch

For oversize loads, identify the widest, tallest and longest points in the prepared shipping configuration. Include supports, crates and projections. Explain known access restrictions at both properties. If dimensions are expected to change after preparation, provide the final measurements before the carrier relies on them for route and permit planning.

Before the pickup appointment, confirm that the cargo matches the description used for the quote and that the loading area is ready. Photograph the prepared equipment or packages and keep the inventory available to the people releasing the load. Agree on how pickup and delivery updates will be communicated. If another contractor controls access or handles the lift, make sure that contact has the same appointment information. A shared understanding of the cargo, responsibilities and site conditions helps keep the move organized without depending on assumptions made during the first quote discussion.

Oversize Loads Transportation Questions

Does an oversize load always need an escort?

No single answer applies to every load. Escort requirements depend on the loaded dimensions, route and jurisdiction. They must be reviewed for the particular shipment before the move is scheduled.

What if the shipment details change after the quote?

Contact the team before pickup. A change in dimensions, weight, component count, operating condition or loading location may affect the truck, trailer, route and price. Updated information helps the carrier review the move before equipment arrives rather than discovering a different load at the gate.

What should be ready at delivery?

Arrange an informed receiving contact, suitable access and the handling equipment agreed for unloading. Keep the shipment inventory available so separate pieces can be checked on arrival. If the receiving site cannot accept the load as planned, communicate that as early as possible so alternatives can be discussed.
