Mining Equipment Transportation Services

Nationwide transportation planning for mining equipment.

What We Move

Moving mining equipment calls for attention to machine size, site access and the sequence in which equipment must reach the receiving operation. Heavy Haul Transporting helps coordinate mining equipment transportation for relocations, maintenance movements and equipment purchases. Mine support machines, processing equipment and larger production units each need a plan based on their actual shipping configuration rather than a broad equipment label.

Heavy Haul Transporting is operated by Flatbed Hauling Quotes Inc. As an asset-based carrier and licensed freight broker, we combine our fleet with a network of participating carriers. We work with mine operators, quarry managers, contractors and equipment suppliers to review transportation requirements before dispatch. Our heavy haulers focus on clear shipment information, suitable equipment and communication between the people releasing and receiving the cargo.

01

Mining Equipment We Can Help You Move

Shipment requirements vary across mine support equipment, motor graders, haul trucks, crushers, screening plants and attachments. Send an itemized description of what needs to move, including accessories and separate packages. Photographs help explain the load, but measured dimensions, reliable weights and handling instructions remain important. If the equipment has been modified, identify the changes instead of relying only on a standard model description.

02

Mine Support Machines and Production Equipment

A motor grader used on haul roads has different transport needs from a mobile crusher, haul truck or screening plant. Tell us the machine type, make, model and any components that will be detached. For larger equipment, identify whether the manufacturer provides a transportation configuration or dismantling procedure. The number of loads should follow that information, including the space required for attachments and support parts.

03

Preparing Equipment for Departure

Mining equipment may carry accumulated material that adds weight or obscures inspection points. Arrange cleaning where appropriate and identify any remaining material, fluids or special handling concerns before pickup. Conveyors, handrails and projecting components need review in their shipping positions. Qualified personnel should carry out dismantling and preparation; transportation planning should identify those responsibilities instead of assuming they are included with the truck.

04

Loading Areas at Mines and Quarries

Provide the actual loading area, entry instructions and site contact. Discuss access roads, gradients, ground conditions and the space available for a long trailer to maneuver. If induction, appointments or protective equipment are required for the driver, share the requirements in advance. A machine staged at a suitable loading point can have very different access needs from one still located deep within an operating site.

05

Coordinating Several Mining Equipment Loads

A relocation may involve the machine body, detached conveyors, tracks, buckets or other components. List each piece with its weight, dimensions and identification. Agree on loading and delivery order so the receiving crew can account for the parts it needs. If installation or lifting crews are scheduled separately, allow room in the plan for route approval, equipment availability and any changes to the shipment.

06

Trailer Selection for Mining Equipment

The appropriate trailer follows the cargo’s weight, dimensions, support requirements and loading method. Depending on the shipment, the carrier may consider a flatbed, step deck, lowboy, removable gooseneck or another specialized configuration. These are options to evaluate, not a promise that every trailer type suits every item. Share the manufacturer’s shipping instructions and any restrictions on where the cargo may be supported.

Tell us how loading and unloading will take place, who provides the handling equipment and whether the cargo can move under its own power. Trailer availability, deck space and loading access must be considered together. Our heavy haulers review those details with the shipment information so the transportation discussion is based on a workable configuration rather than the lowest deck height or shortest route alone.

A Documented Shipment From Our Project Records

Our company project folder 17912 identifies a Caterpillar 16H motor grader being moved from coal mines in Westernport, Maryland, to a new mine in Leadville, Colorado. The accompanying photograph shows the grader loaded for transport. This is a documented mining support-equipment move; the record does not provide a shipment weight or mileage, and we do not use it to describe every mining machine’s transportation requirements.

08

What Affects Mining Equipment Transportation Cost?

A useful transportation quote reflects the work required for the complete shipment. Distance matters, but trailer type, loaded size and weight, permits, escort requirements, site access and handling arrangements can also affect the price. Several related loads should be described individually. Let us know about appointment windows, limited receiving hours, storage needs or other conditions that could change the way the move is carried out.

Provide the origin and destination city and ZIP code, the ready date, preferred delivery window, equipment description, shipping dimensions and weight. Include photographs and any available drawings or packing list. Tell us which services are already arranged and which still need discussion. Changes to the cargo or loading conditions should be communicated before dispatch so the quote and transportation plan can be reviewed.

Details to Confirm Before Dispatch

For mining moves, identify the equipment’s operating area and the point where it will be staged for loading. Explain any site induction or access requirements and who can confirm road and ground conditions. List detached conveyors, buckets and other components with identifiers that remain useful after the machine has been dismantled.

Before the pickup appointment, confirm that the cargo matches the description used for the quote and that the loading area is ready. Photograph the prepared equipment or packages and keep the inventory available to the people releasing the load. Agree on how pickup and delivery updates will be communicated. If another contractor controls access or handles the lift, make sure that contact has the same appointment information. A shared understanding of the cargo, responsibilities and site conditions helps keep the move organized without depending on assumptions made during the first quote discussion.

Mining Equipment Transportation Questions

Can a crusher travel with its conveyors attached?

Only after the shipping configuration is confirmed. Some conveyors fold, while others may need removal. Send current photographs and the manufacturer’s transport information so the complete loaded footprint can be reviewed.

What if the shipment details change after the quote?

Contact the team before pickup. A change in dimensions, weight, component count, operating condition or loading location may affect the truck, trailer, route and price. Updated information helps the carrier review the move before equipment arrives rather than discovering a different load at the gate.

What should be ready at delivery?

Arrange an informed receiving contact, suitable access and the handling equipment agreed for unloading. Keep the shipment inventory available so separate pieces can be checked on arrival. If the receiving site cannot accept the load as planned, communicate that as early as possible so alternatives can be discussed.
