In general, any vehicle over 12 feet in width, 14 feet in height, and within the Class 3 weight class should obtain an oversize load permit from the Bluffdale Public Works Department. Additionally, oversized loads with a length exceeding 55 feet must travel on designated routes during daylight hours only.
Oversized loads transporting hazardous materials are required to have a police escort and follow specific routing instructions provided by the City of Bluffdale.
The Utah Department of Public Safety requires a police escort for oversized loads transporting hazardous materials. A minimum of two escort vehicles are required, one in front and one behind the oversize load.
For oversized loads with a length exceeding 80 feet, an additional escort vehicle is required to be placed at the rear of the convoy.
