All oversize loads entering the City of New Castle must conform to the requirements set by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
In general, any vehicle over 10 feet in width, 14.5 feet in height, and within the Class 3 weight class should obtain an oversize load permit from the New Castle Public Works Department.
Additionally, loads exceeding 12 feet in width or requiring a police escort will be required to provide advance notice of their travel plans to the City's Traffic Engineering Division.
Escorts are required for all oversize loads exceeding 12 feet in width or height. Local police departments will provide escort services upon request.
A $50 fee is applicable for each police escort, payable to the City of New Castle.
