In general, any vehicle over 12 feet in width, 14 feet in height, and weighing more than 10 tons should obtain an oversize load permit from the North Judson Public Works Department. Additionally, oversized loads with a length greater than 75 feet must travel on designated routes and avoid peak hour traffic.
To ensure public safety, all oversized loads are required to be fully enclosed or have adequate tarps to prevent debris from falling onto city streets.
According to Indiana state law, any vehicle over 12 feet in width or 14 feet in height requires an escort vehicle while traveling through North Judson. The escort vehicle must be a marked city or county police car.
For oversized loads with a length greater than 75 feet, two escort vehicles are required: one at the front and one at the rear of the load.
